Hitting the 90s Scene

It’s 1991. Regulation: The Art of Control opens as a clubwear and fetish clothing shop in North London. Retailing a limited range of latex, leather, PVC, military surplus, and even a small range of women's lines to clubbers in the 90s fetish and alternative club scene. Latex production starts a few years later, making us one of the very few companies in the UK cutting and gluing latex for the gay male market.

Our new Islington shop is a treasure trove of one-off pieces and toys. Later in the 90s we release three unique and creative print catalogues, exposing our range to the world via mail order.

We go digital

Our first website launches. A limited range at first, but for the first time toys and fetish gear reach more people than ever before. The sex and fetish retail landscape begins to change significantly with the dot com era, as more outlets open and competition grows.

By the late 2000s our latex and leather production expands into the floors above the Islington shop, and we hold more stock than we ever have.

2010s · Outgrowing Islington

Our team expands

Fetish Week London becomes a key fetish event in the international kink scene calendar and we embrace it. We also hold our first stalls at Folsom Europe and the burgeoning new Darklands market at Leatherpride in Antwerp.

In 2016, our workshop needs to expand further, so we move it to Blackhorse Road in North London, with more warehousing installed alongside it. New systems and space mean we can stock more product lines and offer more customisable options for made to order leather and rubber.

The team grows with it, in the store and in fetishwear manufacturing.

2018 · Angel to Soho

Hello Soho

Redevelopment of our shop location and changing licensing legislation force us to leave Angel, Islington, after 27 years. The store now moves to Soho, the traditional heart of gay London nightlife, and we have a new chance to open in a fully licensed, two-level space.

It’s damp and it needs a lot of TLC but we relish the opportunity to build something from scratch with a more public frontage.

2025 · Regents Studios, Hackney

Hello Hackney

The workshop moves again, next to Regents Studios in Hackney, keeping latex design and production inside a creative hub. A made-to-order suit still takes just four weeks, and we offer more custom options than ever.

Our Blackhorse Road warehouse now has room to expand.
